GIS’s Construction Division provides commercial general contracting and construction management firm. GIS’s Construction Division has been committed to provide quality on time construction needs, regardless of size or complexity.


To be an exemplary commercial contractor in all aspects: from customer satisfaction, to project scheduling and completion, close out of the project, to sales and marketing, and to earn our place as one of the top commercial contractors in the region.

To create, maintain, and grow a commercial general contracting business that provides a consistency in quality, performance, profit, and client satisfaction, as well as a sound and professional working environment for its employees. We will do this by providing general contracting, construction management, and design build services for construction and structural renovation of all types such as commercial interiors, civil, structural, streets and highway, bridge industry. Our primary geographical area is the Washington Metropolitan Area; however, we do cover areas both regionally and nationally for select clients and projects.

The purpose of GIS’s Construction Division is to provide construction and construction management services of the highest professional standard. It will be accomplished in a manner that is consistent with the intent of industry standard agreements and contracts.

The company will operate with the objective of generating profit and consistency above the industry average, but it will operate in a way that always adds value to the process and all vested parties.

General conditions such as safety, cleanliness, and employee accommodations will be evaluated periodically for possible improvements and will always compare favorably with good industry practice. We will be pleased to meet with any employee to discuss suggested improvements in working conditions.

We firmly believe that a safe work place is the key to operational excellence and eliminates injuries and property damage with the additional benefit of reducing operating costs. Our philosophy is to never let up in our safety efforts and work toward achieving our best every day.

Due to GIS’s consistent commitment to our safety performance, our Construction Division has recorded zero recordable or loss time accidents since its inception.

Our Program

Above and Beyond Going above and beyond to eliminate accidents is the aim every day for everyone on a GIS job site. Our safety program exceeds OSHA requirements; raising the bar on the commitment to safety.

In addition to using only the most up to date safety practices and products, GIS’s Construction Division has employed a full time Corporate Safety Officer the past two years. With his top safety certificates and advance training, GIS has instituted a “Top Down” safety approach to work place accident prevention.

We have a culture of safety. Excellence in safety is not a goal, it is an expectation. We establish this expectation from the start. Safety training is an integrated part of GIS’s new employee orientation program. Every employee receives the on-site training prior to working on a project. We provide OSHA 30-hour training in-house to our employees, addressing each sub-part of the OSHA standards. In our training we examine the components of GIS’s Safety Program and how they exceed OSHA standards.

On all GIS project sites, daily “Toolbox Talks” are held with all employees where safe work practices are discussed. We require that our subcontractors attend these weekly safety meetings and document that their employees attend as well.

Our project teams are expected to lead by example, putting safety first in their daily work activities. For each of our projects, a site-specific project safety plan is developed, taking into account the specific safety requirements and environment of the project. This plan outlines the responsibilities relating to safety for everyone on the project. We require our subcontractors to have safety plans in place as well.

Our safety principles are firm and our safety program is backed by company policy. We are fully committed to a drug-free work environment through both pre-employment screening and random drug testing for all employees.
